So we're getting Prada Meta AI glasses now, huh?

AI ai glasses Fashion Gadgets Meta prada smartglasses

Could Meta be gearing up to drop a Prada version of its Meta AI glasses? That's what people are thinking after Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla showed up front row at Prada's Fall/Winter 2026 Fashion Week show in Milan on Thursday. The tech billionaire was spotted deep in conversation with Lorenzo Bertelli Prada's chief merchandising officer and son of legendary designer Miuccia Prada.

Sure, Zuckerberg's been trying to clean up his look lately, stepping up his wardrobe game and all that. But let's be real he probably wasn't there for fashion inspo. This screams upcoming collaboration.

CNBC reported last summer that Prada AI glasses were apparently in development, along with some other partnerships. But Meta still hasn't officially confirmed anything publicly. (And they haven't responded yet to questions about why Zuck was hanging out in Milan, either.)

EssilorLuxottica the French-Italian eyewear giant behind Ray-Ban has been teaming up with Meta on these smart glasses since day one, starting with the Ray-Ban Stories. Earlier this month, they announced they sold over 7 million AI glasses in 2025 alone, way up from just 2 million the year before. That includes both the Ray-Ban Meta lineup and the Oakley Meta glasses, which are geared more toward the sporty crowd.

Now it looks like Prada AI glasses could be coming next. Makes sense, considering Prada and EssilorLuxottica just renewed their licensing deal for Prada and Miu Miu eyewear for the next ten years. (Their old agreement was supposed to end on December 31, 2025, but got extended through 2030, with an option to keep going until 2035.)

Prada AI glasses would give Meta a way into the high-fashion world. something their Ray-Bans and Oakleys haven't really cracked yet. Positioning the glasses as a luxury status symbol could also give Meta's whole brand a serious boost.

But here's the thing: there's growing concern that AI glasses might not vibe with where society's heading right now. People are increasingly fed up with surveillance tech. we're seeing folks rip out their Ring doorbells and literally smash Flock cameras in the street. This whole shift might make Meta think twice about adding facial-recognition features to the glasses, which The New York Times recently reported they were considering. That news didn't land well and sparked some serious backlash, even though the glasses had been doing pretty decently up until then. It got bad enough that one developer actually built an app specifically to warn you if someone near you is wearing AI glasses. Yeah, it's gotten that real.
